Introduction To Whitewater Canoeing

Sat, Jun 20, 2015 · 10:00 AM – Sun, Jun 21 · Minden Hills

Join me for a 2 day whitewater canoeing introduction at the Minden Wild Water Preserve.

One of my personal goals for KW Backcountry is to get a group of paddlers that are capable of doing overnight backcountry whitewater trips. The first step to getting these type of trips in the calendar is a weekend like this to assess paddling skills and teach basic whitewater skills to those who are new to the river. To attend any of my further whitewater trips you'll need to have attended a weekend like this or be able to demonstrate a trip log of experience on the river.

Let me be clear, this is NOT a certification course of any kind but simply a way to share my knowledge in an area that we seem to be missing here at the group. We'll meet up between 10 & 11am on Saturday June 20th at Minden Wild Water Preserve just north of Minden on Highway 35.

Camping is available at the preserve for $17/person per night. I will reserve at least 1 campsite for the weekend. More will be added as interest is increased.

Costs:

The $2 reservation fee will go towards a nice dessert on Saturday night and is non refundable once paid.

Camping Saturday night: $17+Food+Transportation
Boat rentals: $25/day for an ABS boat from Boatwerks in Minden (Call to reserve)

TIP - Several people can share one rental as we do not need our boats to get to/from our campsite.
