What to pack for a winter trip

Thu, Jan 21, 2016 · 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM · Kitchener–Waterloo

Have you been interested in extending your outdoor travel into Winter? Have you been unsure where to start? This could be the class for you.

This is the first part of a two part course. In this I will be talking mostly about the clothing and equipment you will need to have a successful winter backpacking trip in Southern Ontario. What you need to buy and carry to travel safely and comfortably.

In part two we will go out into the woods and and learn the skills needed to stay warm and travel. That trip will happen on February 6th. You must attend the McCabe’s class to be eligible to join me on the trip.

This course assumes you have prior experience and familiarity with summer backpacking. This event will focus on talking about those things that are different in winter. There will not be time to cover basic skills and knowledge. All are welcome but those who are not already be comfortable and competent hiking on multi-day trips alone will find some of the content incomplete or confusing.

There will be time afterwards to ask questions and look at example gear.

There will be a sample packed bag to look at.

Please support McCabes who offers there space to us by purchasing a drink or meal.
