Canoe Paddling Practice, Laurel Creek Park, Waterloo

Want to learn or brush up on your canoe strokes before heading into the backcountry? Come and learn, teach and practise with your fellow KW Backcountry Travel members!
This will be an evening of peer-based canoe paddling instruction. If you have something you want to learn, come and learn. If you have something to teach, come and teach. If you just want to practise in a safe environment, you can do that too.
What to Bring
If you can, please bring a canoe, PFDs, paddles and safety kits (bailer & rope) to share. If you don't have any of these things, come anyway. We will all take turns in the available canoes.
If you can bring a canoe, please tell the event host in a comment below, so we know how many boats we'll have.
Bring a change of clothes to change into in case you get wet. Plan for your feet to get wet.
Bring water and a snack.
Cost
Entry to the park costs $6 for a day pass. A season pass gets you into all GRCA parks until the end of the year for $50. The conservation area rents canoes for $15/hour. NOTE: rental canoes must be returned by 8:00.
Location
Follow the signs to the boat launch (NOT the rental pickup area). After unloading your boat and gear, please park in the parking lot.
If you are renting a canoe at the park, pick up the canoe and paddle around the point to the right to the boat launch. If you need someone to help paddle the canoe to the launch, tell the event host and he will try to arrange it.
