Backpacking/ Kayaking To Bruce Peninsula's High Dump
Hey everyone Due to an injury I've been kinda laying low waiting to heal. So this will be my first meet up in some time. That aside here's the plot

Saturday:

Hikers: leave from head of trails towards the Bruce trail. You'll be passing the Grotto, Storm Haven, Half way dump then the final push over some tricky terrain. Then down a very steep decline to our main objective. "High Dump".

Kayakers: Wake up bright and early break camp and eat a quick breakfast. Then head to Little Cove. Lug our kayaks down a steep decline to the beautiful lime stone beach that is Little Cove. load the kayaks then launch by 10:00. head up the coast towards the Grotto. Have a short lunch at the Grotto then back to the boats. Make the final push to "High Dump".

After arriving at High Dump set up camp. A reminder fires are BAND!! at the back country sites due to the fragile nature of the location. If caught a hefty fine or possible jail time might be in your future. So as the Fire Master it pains me to say this but I will enforce the NO FIRE RULE for the protection of the area.
Sunday:

Hike, explore, practice kayaking skills etc. Basically freedom for the day. If hiking alone be sure to bring a bear bell and bear flare. This is the time of year when the bears need to put on their winter weight. be prepared but don't lose any sleep over this.
Monday:

Early rise for all break camp and make for the parking lots. load our gear then be on our way.

Logistics:
car camp at Cyprus lake camp ground for Friday night one site go's for $34.50 and that can be split 6 ways.
I have already booked High Dump 5,6 and 7 for two nights.
parking permits are $11.70 per day.
back country permits are $9.80 a night per person.
online reservation fees $33 split between the group.
total cost per person $59.75
shared fuel cost, everyone's car burns fuel at different rates so be fair.
kayaks, I'd prefer everyone has their own to save on sizing time. plus you know your boat and how it paddles but if you don't have your own you might be out of luck. the out fitters are winding down for the season.
(KAYAKERS) Our launching from Little cove is weather dependent. Be prepared to hike if the winds are unfavorable. IE 20 km and up we might be going down the Bruce trail in one group.
This Is an Intermediate to advanced trip. The hike is 17 km with the last 4 to 5 km being somewhat difficult to traverse. The kayak distance is 17 to 20 km with the possibility of some good waves. anything past 5 foot waves and I'll call it. the water temp will also be a factor. As the bay will start to cool down shortly. So a dry suit may be needed at the time of the trip. I'll be monitoring the weather in the days leading up to the trip.
