Circumnavigating The 30,000 Islands Via Kayaks

Fri, Aug 4, 2017 · 10:00 AM – Mon, Aug 7 · Franklin Island & the Mink Islands

Calling all advanced paddlers. Do I have one for you guys. Let's get out there and prove our mettle. We'll be Circumnavigating the 30,000 Islands. About one third of our travel will be in open water. The distance to be traveled is about 42 km. Our route is as follows.

Day 1 Launch from Dillon Marina and make for the McCoy's we'll land and stay at Big McCoy Island for the night.

Day 2 Break camp have breakfast and head down to the Mink Islands. We're aiming for one of two islands Green Island or Heather Island. We'll land on which ever one is available.

Day 3 Break camp have breakfast and launch to Franklin Island. Our aim is 800 to 900 meters North of Henrietta's point. There's a awesome camp site that if not occupied we shall seize. Then set up camp and view the wide open bay and sky. After the star viewing hit the sack and commence some Zzzzz.

Day 4 Our final day Will bring us around Henrietta's point and through the straight between Franklin Island and main land Ontario. Through there we will dodge some motor boat traffic and there you have it we're back to port.

Okay now comes the heavy stuff. The distance is around 42 km. over 4 days that's sounds pretty easy right. Wrong distance aside weather and water conditions can change very quickly. I am adamant you have your won kayak 16 foot or longer. There are many reasons for this. The main reason is you know your kayak.

Logistics Thurs day night at Killbear PP $52.25 split between the group.

carpooling / shared gas be fair.

parking at Dillon marina $7.50 per night.
