Highlands Backpacking Trail. Early season winter camping
Due to the excellent forecast I have decided to head outside this coming weekend. Sorry for the the short notice but take heart that KW backcountry is planning a full season for winter adventuring.
the 20k loop around Provoking Lake of the Highlands trail, Algonquin Park.
The plan is to meet at the West gate 09:30am Saturday, get our permits and head to the trail head just before Mew Lake,
This hike is about 20km long, but we can add extra 6k to get to the view on the main Loop.
Snowshoes and microspikes are required.
This trip will cost $12.43 + tax (and a share of gas for your driver)
This trip is for experienced backcountry campers, you should have a good shelter / tent for the expected weather and a sleep system that will keep you reasonably warm and dry, night temps can drop to -25C.
Due to the terrian sleds are not suitable.
If you've never been on a trip with me before, please indicate your backpacking experience when you RSVP.
