What to pack for a winter trip
Love spending time in the outdoors? Do you want to keep going through the winter? Maybe you went a trip in high school and you are just getting feeling back in your toes? ;)
If you are interested in extending your outdoor travel into winter, this is the class for you.
This is the first part of a two-part course. In this part we will be talking mostly about the clothing and equipment you will need to have a successful winter backpacking trip in Southern Ontario, i.e. what you need to buy and carry to travel safely and comfortably.
In part two, the trip, we will go out into the woods and and learn the skills needed to stay warm and travel. That trip will happen on the weekend of January 26th. You must attend this class to be eligible to join the trip.
This course assumes you have prior experience and familiarity with summer backpacking. All are welcome, but those who are not already comfortable and competent hiking on multi-day trips alone may find some of the content incomplete or confusing. This event focuses on those things that are different in winter. There will not be time to cover basic skills and knowledge.
Afterward, people are invited to ask questions and look at example gear.
There will be a sample packed bag to look at.
Please support McCabes who offers their space to us by purchasing a drink or meal.
I hope to see you there.
