A Georgian Bay Circumspection

KWBT Summer of Love

Love of sea kayaking, that is, and this will be a circumspection of Philip Edward Island, way up in Georgian Bay.

edit: we've changed our plans. Instead of a circumnavigation of PEI, we're going to paddle around the islands along PEI's southern shore. We'll still be out for six days, so there will be plenty of time for sightseeing.

We head up Monday, June 29, and spend the night at Killarney, then launching Tuesday morning. I expect the trip will end with a night of camping at Lake George campground Sunday night, heading back home (or whatever) on Monday.

There are numerous options for renting sea kayaks, but you won’t want to leave it too late to reserve one. A sea kayak will usually have a rudder or skeg, and for this trip, the length of our boats is typically between 15 and 18 feet. For an average-sized person, 16-17 feet is a good length.

Trip details and an organizing spreadsheet will be sent soon by email, which is where we assist people in obtaining gear they might presently lack and arrange for car-pooling. No pets on this trip, thanks.

Expenses: $25 for camping, $10 parking, gas $, kayak rental.

Your RSVP puts you on the Waitlist. I will contact you to discuss experience levels and related info. Then you e-transfer me the $25 camping fee, and I change your RSVP to ‘Going’. If something comes up and you can’t attend, I'll arrange for a replacement. This event is not ‘first come, first served’ - I wish to balance the mix of experienced and less experienced sea kayakers.
