Spring Clean-up Weekend
Held each spring, this is a great opportunity to lend a hand and help prepare Killarney Provincial Park for the camping season. We clean and rake roads and campsites, rehabilitate disturbed areas by planting trees, and undertake special projects like rehabilitating trails and building boardwalks.
Free campsite provided in George Lake Campground.
Info from FOKP:
*A friendly reminder to bring:
1. Rake
2. Shovel
3. Rain boots/work boots
4. Work gloves
We will provide a cold breakfast with warm drinks and a BBQ lunch on Saturday, May 6. Both will take place at the Nature Centre/warm-up hut from 8:00-9:00am and 12:00-1:00pm, respectively. Much of the food has been donated and we plan to have enough for everyone, but if you find a few extra "friends" to join you in Killarney Park to help with the Clean-up, please send a quick note to info@friendsofkillarneypark.com and also let us know if there is a need for a vegetarian option for the hot lunch.
Although the Park staff hope to open the comfort station in the campground prior to the weekend, there is always a chance the weather will prevent them from turning the water on. This means those bathrooms, showers and the building itself will not be available for use. Please be prepared for alternatives. In the village of Killarney, Roques Marina will have their showers on for $1 each and the same price for the laundromat. This is coin operated and located at 65 Channel Street.
